Initial consultation is at no charge. Mediation will be charged at a rate of $400 per hour, with a four-hour minimum. The rate for 1/2 day is $1,600 and $3,200 for a full day. This hourly rate applies to time involved in preparing for a mediation, time during the mediation session(s) and time spent following mediation. This may include the creation of a written mediation settlement agreement for the parties to sign, as well as conversations by telephone or email, or face-to-face with the parties an/or their counsel. Following a mediation, additional time typically is spent corresponding with the parties or their counsel and editing the mediation settlement agreement. Unless the parties have come to an alternative arrangement, it is assumed that each will pay half of the fees due.
I do not charge a travel fee for mediations in Ventura County nor for most locations in Santa Barbara or Los Angeles Counties. Please contact me about travel outside this area.
Cancellations must be made 10 business days in advance of the scheduled date of mediation. The parties or attorneys cancelling with less than 10 days notice will be charged for one hour of mediation time, plus actual preparation time (if any). The cancellation fee will be split equally between the parties unless it is evident that the cancellation was the sole responsibility of one party.
